Forza Horizon 5 shows off intro spectacle in new video •

Playground Games showed the typically spectacular intro sequence for Forza Horizon 5 in a new gameplay video, confirming the game’s cover cars – but had few new concrete details to share about the open-world racing game.

The footage sees the player being dropped from a cargo plane, parachuting, into a series of iconic cars, across the game’s Mexico map.

The first is a 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands, a rugged, retro-styled SUV that drops right next to a smoking, snow-dusted volcano crater. It’s winter here, but a dizzying descent takes us into a scorching desert and a brief glimpse of a Baja rally circuit.

Next, we’re dropped into a 2020 Corvette Stingray sports car and plunged into an impenetrable dust storm; these storms can appear in scripted events like this, but also arise organically in free roaming. Then a Porsche 911 “Desert Flyer” – a 1980s model of the classic sports car which was modified into a Baja endurance rally car, with some success in Mexican Races – explore the palpably humid climates of a muddy jungle track.

Finally, we briefly get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-AMG One, which shares cover star honors with the new Bronco. The German hypercar descends the ramp of the cargo plane – still at high speed – and howls along a barren, rocky coastline before crossing an expanse of “living desert” to the traditional Horizon festival center, showing how smoothly the map shifts between the varied biomes of the Mexican landscape.

A few small treats, however, marked me. Discussing the popular battle royale style Eliminator Mode that was added to Forza Horizon 4 in an update, Brown noted that it should look quite different (and hopefully improved) in the new game for the simple reason. that unlike the Britain’s Horizon 4, the map was designed with Eliminator in mind. He envisioned an Eliminator climax with the narrowing circle closing in on the top of the volcano.

He reiterated that he thought the game’s campaign would be “much better,” while still providing the level of freedom that in Forza Horizon 4 could be intoxicating and confusing at the same time. He noted that unless there is an event, you can progress through the game without participating in a single race. “FH5 is an open world driving game,” said Brown. “After this Showcase event, if you didn’t want to race that would be great. There are a ton of ways to progress, and a lot of them borrow this design ideology from open world games rather than the racing games. “

Although unable to disclose details of the car list, Brown confirmed that Forza Horizon 5 will have “hundreds” of cars at launch – “more than we’ve had at launch in any previous game.” .

Finally, he noted that with a development cycle of three rather than two years between the last Forza Horizon and this one, the team had had time to give the game’s physical simulation its most substantial overhaul to it. day. “We’ve completely rebuilt how the suspension works – you might think that might make it more difficult, but the realism improves accessibility,” Brown said. “Braking is another area where we were able to improve the physics simulation – the pads will grab breaks more gradually rather than locking up, and again, it’s more accessible.”
