Liverpool star quits FIFA 22 tournament early to play real-life match, scores after just 97 seconds, does gamer celebration • Eurogamer.net

A Liverpool player had to leave a FIFA 22 tournament early to play a live game this afternoon – and celebrated a player after scoring after just 97 seconds.

Liverpool frontman Diogo Jota spent the morning playing in an international FIFA 22 qualifier before rushing to kick off his club’s Premier League game against Southampton at Anfield at 3 p.m.

It’s also a good job that Jota did – he scored after just 97 seconds – and celebrated by sitting down and pretending to play FIFA.

There’s no way Jota just made this celebration

Jota continued his impressive form in front of goal by adding a second goal later in the first half. Liverpool won 4-0.

Wonderfully, Jota’s next scheduled opponent in the FIFA 22 tournament, 18-year-old French player Yanis “Lyamooo” Aguili, took to Twitter to reveal the conversation between the two players that took place just before the start of the tournament. Liverpool star.

“Good luck!” Jota messages at 2:23 PM CET (one hour ahead of UK time).

Then a minute later: “I can’t play so I’ll miss the recording.”

Aguili, clearly in agreement with the procedures, replies: “Oh okay, good luck with the game.”

Then: “In real life.

“Thank you,” Jota replies.

I can’t imagine what Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp would have said if Jota had arrived late because he was playing FIFA!

Jota and Aguili were scheduled to compete in an online qualifier for the FIFA 22 Global Series.

Jota’s appearance in the tournament is not a publicity stunt. As Eurogamer reported, the Portuguese is not just a world-class footballer, he is a world-class FIFA player.

In February, Jota was ranked world number one in the FIFA Ultimate Team Champions Rankings after again 30-0 in the Weekend League (winning 30 unbeaten matches in FUT’s most hardcore competitive mode is the kind of record that professional FIFA players shoot for).

It was not an isolated case either. Jota was already 30-0 in FUT Champions. In May 2020, Jota defeated his Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold in the final of the FIFA 20 ePremier League Invitational. Watch this match in the video below:

“Ever since my dad gave me my first PlayStation when I was a kid, it’s like another passion of mine. I’ve always played football on it,” Jota said. athleticism in December 2020.

Jota has his own esports team. “You are forgiven for dropping out of the qualifying game,” they tweeted in response to the opening goal.
