You may recall that last week Nintendo announced that Nintendo Switch Sports would receive a brand new update on July 26th. The update was going to be big, with new moves coming to Volleyball and new features for the game.
Well, as promised, nintendo released the update. Once you update Nintendo Switch Sports, the game should be at version 1.2.0. As mentioned before, this is a big update and there are a lot of new additions. The official patch notes can be seen below.
Football One-on-one and four-on-four football matches can now be played using the leg strap. Sports selection screen Play Globally Play Locally On the screen showing how to hold the Joy-Con controllers, press the + button. Play locally Joy-Con demo screenPlay with friends On the screen showing how to hold the Joy-Con controllers, press the + button. Play with friends Joy-Con demo screenA new camera mode has been added. To use it, go to the sport selection screen, then Options → User settings → Other (for two-handed mode only). The camera can now be reset during gameplay by pressing the X button. Players will no longer jump too high when kicking repeatedly, and it should also be easier to jump to maximum height (only for the two-handed mode). Volleyball You can now perform sliding attacks, a coordinated movement in which a player crosses the court before jumping to kick the ball. To perform a sliding attack, move the stick left and right after hitting the ball. This move is great for surprising opponents. To block a sliding attack, quickly start moving towards the opponent who is about to attack the ball using the stick to get into position. You can now perform rocket services. When serving, throw the ball high and hit it at the top to make a Rocket Serve. Bowling Pin fall adjustment. It is now slightly harder for pins to fall when playing in a straight line. Now slightly easier for pins to fall over when playing with a curve. Play Globally S and ∞ (Infinity Rank) ranks have been added to professional leagues. Those who were at Ranks A30-A39 before the software update will be moved to Ranks S0-S9. Added a setting to disable the display of opponent nicknames and titles. This setting is found on the sport selection screen. Go to Options → User Settings → Other. Enhanced measures against disruptive behavior. Play with friends When creating a room, you can now choose to assign a room ID to it. This will allow you to play matches online even if your opponent is not a friend.
Creating a room with a room host ID In Create a new room, check the option Room ID (Invite anyone via ID). Write down the Room ID you see, then select OK.
Note: Your Room ID will also be displayed on the Member Reception screen. Create a room to play with friends. Give the room ID to the people you want to invite to the room, then wait at the member welcome screen. Guests Tap the + button in Join Room, then enter the room ID.
Join a room by pressing the + button in Join Room. A new difficulty option called Auto Select is available for bowling when playing with friends. This option measures the average skill of participating players to define the overall difficulty. Globally An icon will now appear if the connection to a player becomes unstable during online play. If an opponent’s connection becomes unstable, the icon will also appear on your own screen. If you often see this icon, please see our troubleshooting for online latency issues.
