Some Outriders players are reporting a continuing disturbing inventory clearing bug that in some cases wiped out nearly 100 hours of in-game investment.

The first big Outriders patch went live last night on PC and PlayStation 4, and this morning on PlayStation 5, and some gamers were quick to report that their inventories had been cleared.

Affected players appear distraught, reporting that the bug cost them loot after dozens of hours of grinding.

“Like thousands of others today, first login after update, I was greeted by this on my level 50 gear, Devastator 94 Hours,” says redditor Ok_Entertainment_112. “Today I was going to level my last gear to 50. Two friends and I were celebrating our build finishes.

“Everything is gone, 94 hours lost, almost complete construction lost, it’s a joke. Naked at the connection, the server cannot connect yada yada like everyone else.”

“Adios Outriders,” said u / Wolphoenix redditor. “Clearing inventory and not being able to charge in my 80 hour hand is my last straw.”

SneakeyPetey is another affected player: “30 years of gaming and I’ve never spent more than 50 hours in a game getting wiped out with nothing,” they said. “Looks like I ran into the terrible equipment erasure bug.”

Some said they will stop playing Outriders until this inventory issue is fixed – and asked People Can Fly to add a warning to the game that appears on login.

This inventory clearing bug has plagued the Outriders since launch, and it looks like People Can Fly and Square Enix are struggling to overwrite it.

Thursday, People Can Fly said it is working on restores for players affected by these inventory clearings.. And in the patch notes, the developer said last night’s update “fixed the multiplayer crash that could cause their client player inventory to be cleared.” Obviously, that didn’t do the trick.

Now People Can Fly has apologized, saying they are doing everything they can to make things right.

“We are aware and deeply sorry that some users continue to experience inventory wiping”, the developer said.

“We are doing everything we can to resolve this issue, both on the server side and on the game side.

“Our plan is still to work on a restore for all affected accounts.”

But it is this restoration plan that has added additional stress to players who have invested so much time in building their character.

Players – especially those who have reached the end of the Outriders game – spend a lot of time and effort trying to obtain items with “divine throws” that will push their character build to optimal heights. People Can Fly said their restoration plan means “restored items may not have exactly the same stats as lost items.” This statement terrified players who put in the time and effort to grind the god.

It’s a tough situation for the game, its developers, and players, who are now terrified of losing their carefully crafted items. Square Enix said it hopes to host the restore event “within the next week”, and “should process all affected accounts at once.”
