Sound origins may have been released less than 2 months ago, but to say the state of the game has been an issue is an understatement. Unfortunately, there have been a bunch of bugs in the game. A patch for the game was confirmed in the works last month, so it wouldn’t be long before the bugs were fixed.
Good, SEGA has spent the past few days gradually rolling out the update. It was released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 the other day, followed by the PC version that evening. It was only a matter of time, but SEGA released an update for the Nintendo Switch version of Sonic Origins, bringing the compilation to version 1.4.0. It’s not surprising, but the only purpose of the update is to fix bugs. You can see the patch notes below.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Added sound test function. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Fixed a bug where Tails would not return from off-screen and a sound effect would play continuously. Fixed a bug that caused some songs in the Classical Music Pack to display incorrect titles in the Museum. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Fixed a bug that interrupted the sound effect of collecting rings when collecting them in quick succession. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Adjusted Competitive Mode on the Nintendo Switch so it can be played without registering two Joy-Cons/Pro controllers. * Made it unnecessary to register two Joy-Cons/Pro controllers in Time Attack and made it possible to unregister the controller in other modes. 42 Other Bug Fixes: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug where leaving many item boxes in front of the Hydrocity Zone Act 1 sub-boss would cause the game to crash when defeating the sub-boss and moving on to the next act. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug that caused players to get stuck when playing a special stage from the level select menu after playing in Time Attack mode. Sonic the Hedgehog: Fixed a bug where retrying a Classic Mode stage from My Data and getting a Game Over would get players stuck at the title screen. Fixed a bug in the “Fireball Dash” mission where it was possible to move outside of the mission area, and ending the mission would result in the player getting stuck. Fixed a bug in the “Slippery Swim” mission that caused invisible blocks to spawn in areas where they weren’t supposed to spawn. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Competitive Mode that caused players to go back one lap if they took damage or fell off stage. Fixed a bug in the “Animal Rescue” mission where players were standing above clouds instead of bouncing or falling on them. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Angel Island Zone Act 1 that teleported players when the island was on fire. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Carnival Night Zone Act 2 where the boss would leave the area if hit by a mid-air attack while entering. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug that caused a sound effect to play continuously when changing stages after defeating the boss in Death Egg Zone Act 1. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed A bug in Flying Battery Zone Act 1 that caused a sound effect to play continuously if a player passed stages near a magnetic object. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Fixed a bug that caused Tails’ flying sound effect to play continuously after transitioning to the next stage if you were flying with Tails during the transition. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Fixed a bug in 2 Player VS mode where time would never expire if it reached 0 on player error. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Mirrored Competition mode that prevented courses from being mirrored. Fixed a bug in the “Bounce House” mission where characters would become inoperable if they collided with a Bounce Pad from below when the timer expired. Fixed a bug in the “Extreme! Super Sonic Finish” mission where falling off the platform shortly after reaching the objective would cause the camera to lock and prevent the player from progressing. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug that caused Sonic and Tails to get stuck on a hot rope in the middle of Act 2 of the Angel Island area, making progress impossible. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: When starting in classic mode with a save file where the game was wiped, entering and exiting a special stage without touching a checkpoint would cause the game time to start incorrectly at 9:59 . Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: When starting the game as Sonic with a deleted game save data file, performing certain actions in Angel Island Zone Act 1 would cause the player to move incorrectly to the road to the Knuckles boss area. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Classic Mode where performing certain actions in the Lava Reef Zone Act 2 boss fight would cause the camera to switch and the character to fall off stage. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Angel Island Zone Act 1 where performing certain actions after the stage was set on fire would cause the player to lose a life. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Lava Reef Zone Act 2 that allowed players to avoid the falling boulder that would cause them to step into the boss stage. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Story Mode: Fixed a bug where the transition time from Mystic Cave Zone Act 2 to Hidden Palace 2 was added to the player’s best time. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in the Hydrocity Zone Act 2 boss battle that caused an invisible ceiling to appear, preventing players from jumping higher. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug where immediately opening the pause menu when entering the first special ring in Mushroom Hill Zone Act 1 and selecting “Restart” would cause players to start the scene from an unnatural position. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Starting the game in Classic mode using saved data with a Saved Time Over in Angel Island Zone Act 1, then getting a Game Over would immediately cause players to lose a life upon reaching the sub-boss. Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Fixed a bug that caused crashes due to incorrect item calculations. Fixed a bug in the “Air Attack” mission where players would get stuck on blocks and unable to move. Fixed a typo in the credits. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug where opening the pause menu just before entering a special stage and then selecting “Restart” would move the player to a different act. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug where coins were increased in debug mode. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug that caused background music to slow down in special stages after collecting 50 rings. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: When starting the game in Classic Mode on a save file with an elapsed time saved, the time would not reset from 9:59 when completing a stage. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles: Fixed a bug in Death Egg Zone Act 2 classic mode where opening the pause menu and selecting “Restart” after transitioning to the boss stage would force the player to restart the boss fight with 0:10 time.
