Square-Enix CU of chocobos didn’t get off to the best start with a predatory monetization system not only in the free version, but with the paid version of Chocobo GP which costs £40. Today, the company released a statement in Japanese detailing the changes it is making or has already made. Sat-AM Reddit Member detailed which is changed and also translated Chocobo GP producer Hironori Okayama’s apology message.
“We apologize for the inconvenience caused to players due to issues with the battle feature and lack of notice. The development team will work together to address any faults so they can be fixed as soon as possible.
We also received a lot of feedback on how to provide additional DLCs. We take this seriously and will continue to do our best to provide updates that will satisfy everyone who purchases.
First, it raised the price tier to Chocobo GP mode and moved to an easy spec. Overall it was greatly relaxed especially it made it easier to get to level 100 so I would appreciate if you could get the cloud and his machine.
With team stickers available with prize tier rewards, it is a picture of an average of a game leveling up if wins and losses are stable. In this way, our new basic policy is to create an environment in which it is easy to obtain additional characters simply by purchasing the product version.
In addition to this, we are considering placing items that are unlikely to affect gameplay, such as costume changes, higher rewards, Mithril stores, etc. These are not the only decisions to be made, and we will continue to refresh the reviews we have received.
We are also considering removing some restrictions on the Lite version to make it easier for video distributors to host events, so please be patient.
Thank you for your continued support of the Chocobo Grand Prix.

Changes to Chocobo GP They are aware of and working to resolve online issues. They sent 500 Mythril and reduced the EXP requirements on the pass as an apology to players, which means the reduced EXP requirement may not be how they do future passes. If you had enough EXP to be at a higher level, you were automatically upgraded. Major updates and changes will come with season changes, so there likely won’t be any future adjustments for season 1. Future seasons will include 2 new characters (1 on the pass and 1 on the gil) . “Items added to the Gil Shop will be added with each repeat of the season”, it seems they will keep characters purchased by Gil in the Gil Shop for future seasons, but it could also mean they plan to repeat the seasons if necessary. Characters in the pass can be purchased “directly” with mythril or gil after running the pass. New courses will be released for players on the full and lite versions of Season 2. More Mythril shop items (costumes and BGM tracks) are coming mid-season. Currently, Mythril can only be obtained through a login reward, but starting in season 2 it will also be a pass reward. Balance changes are coming in season 2, including changes to characters and core mechanics. However, they don’t hit anything unless it’s damaged enough to require an immediate fix. to reach level 100 (out of 200) within a 2 month pass. The current XP gain is balanced so that players with a 1:1 win/loss ratio in GP mode will receive approximately 1 level per GP mode run with the stamps provided by the pass. The line that follows (“In this way, our new basic policy is to create an environment in which it is easy to obtain additional characters simply by purchasing the product version”) implies that they essentially find it appropriate and can keep the current version XP gain rate for the pass. More cosmetic/BGM stuff will be coming to the Mythril Shop and the Pass as high level rewards. So this could indicate that they may be allowing Lite players access to the host’s roster, as ‘events’ likely refers to tournaments. However, it can also refer to allowing non-GP online play, or something else.
