UPDATE 4.30pm UK: Troy Baker reacted to the huge backlash that erupted online today after he started promoting an NFT service.
In a series of new posts to her Twitter this afternoon, Baker admitted her previous “You can hate. Or you can create.” message about his new venture “could have been a bit antagonistic.”
But as the messages hit a more humble town, Baker didn’t say if her relationship with VoiceverseNFT would continue. Here are Baker’s new comments in full:
“I always want to be part of the conversation, even if sometimes it finds me in the middle of a loud conversation,” Baker wrote. “I appreciate you all sharing your thoughts and giving me a lot to think about. I’m just a storyteller here trying to tell my story to anyone who wants to hear it and hoping I can help others do the same. Sometimes it works, sometimes it does. I’m grateful that there are those who are passionate about their position and not only feel safe to express it, but also have the means to do so.
“The ‘hate/creation’ part could have been a little antagonistic. Hope you all forgive me. Bad attempt at bringing levity. Either way, feel free to pick up the conversation, or not as you see fit. I appreciate those who have the truth showing it, those who have support offer it and those who are angry do their best to express it. ??”
Baker’s response follows a deluge of negativity from fans and viewers who criticized the voice actor’s earlier decision to promote a service that effectively automated his own profession, as well as a service built on promises. usually waves of NFT value, sold through usually damaging cryptocurrency. .

We all have a story to tell.

“We all have a story to tell. You can hate. Or you can create. What will it be?”
It’s unclear if Baker is actually lending her own voice to buying on the service, or if her partnership simply extends to promoting the idea. A lot of things are unclear, really.
“Voice NFTs offer intrinsic utility in addition to a fantastic community,” Voiceverse wrote, attempting to explain. “You can’t right-click either.”
Other claims made by VoiceNFT include a suggestion of some form of royalties being paid to the original voice actor whose voice was later sold as NFT, and that the company was “working hard” to move its systems. NFT towards a “much more environmentally friendly” system. solution in the future.
“Imagine being able to create personalized audiobooks, Youtube videos, e-learning lectures or even podcasts with your favorite voice!” Voiceverse continued. “Imagine being able to speak with the voice of the character you are playing like in a multiplayer game! Imagine the next level of immersive experience!”
Reaction to Baker’s announcement and involvement has been universally negative.
In addition to the usual drawbacks of NFTs (that many are sold like snake oil and the cryptocurrencies used to buy them are destroying our planet), many pointed out that what Baker was essentially helping to sell was automated dubbing – something that will result in less work for the average voice actor or voiceover artist in the future.
Baker has yet to comment since his initial announcement.
