Warzone substantially reduces Stopping Power spawn rates • Eurogamer.net

Raven made a significant change to Call of Duty: Warzone with its Mid-Season 3 update: Stopping Power Field buff spawn rates were significantly reduced in all modes.

This is a change that the Warzone community has been asking Raven to make for some time. This field upgrade allows you to reload your weapon with stopping power bullets that deal bonus damage. In an already deadly enough game, Stopping Power was used to laser kill enemies in the blink of an eye.

Explaining the decision to make stopping power rarer in Verdansk, Raven said upgrading on the pitch had become an essential choice for players.

“Given the effectiveness of Stopping Power and the lack of counter play options, we felt its power level was at odds with its availability,” Raven said.

“We want to create more scenarios where measured choice about how and when to use field upgrades is not only rewarded but encouraged. There was hardly any incorrect way to apply the stopping power – which we found far removed from the satisfaction of optimal or strategic use. Our hope in drastically reducing its presence within Warzone is that we introduce a little strategy-based control. Those who loot effectively increase their chances of finding it. “

So, it’s not that Raven completely unplugged the stopping power. It’s just that you’re going to have to loot more effectively to find it.

Take this, turn off the power!

Meanwhile, Raven has promised a “significant adjustment” to single player battle royale modes in the “very near future.”

Details are not yet known, but fans have welcomed the prospect of a change. Warzone’s solos are considered one of the worst ways to play battle royale, with camping forward and the infamous “Big Bertha meta“in full force.

Elsewhere, there is a slew of bug fixes, including to additional map locations in Verdansk that allowed players to reach out of bounds areas. Raven said he also fixed an issue that made the gas mask unbreakable after a player died with the gas mask fitted for the first time.

Raven also launched another weapon balance sweep, following important changes made last week.

The AK-74u was slapped with a slight nerf, though Raven said it should still be pretty powerful. All Black Ops Cold War sniper base optics have been adjusted. The PPSh-41 and Swiss K31 have been extensively polished, and the LW3 – Tundra, ZRG 20mm and M82 have all been lightly polished.

Significant changes have been made to the attachments. The suppressor muzzle attachment is polished, a “relatively modest change” that Raven expects to have “widespread effects.”

“The Suppressor now gives you another viable attachment choice in the muzzle category with a focus on different stats,” Raven explained. “For example, where effective range of damage is less of a priority (eg submachine guns) you would almost certainly use suppressor. Or maybe you have more than sufficient bullet speed (eg ZRG 20mm ) and you want to consolidate a weakness These are the types of compelling decisions that we want to continue to develop. “

Speaking generally about the weapon balance in Warzone, Raven said he was “happy with the level of weapon diversity that we observed.”

“As we look to the future, at the top of our list is the look and feel of Black Ops Cold War optics in Warzone. We believe there are some additional tweaks that will continue to push weapon diversity even further. In addition, we will continue our efforts to identify and address categories of attachment that do not support meaningful exploration and do not enhance diversity. “
